The Engineering Services Division of the Public Works Department maintains the City's infrastructure. This infrastructure includes storm drains for redirecting storm water, sewer lines for carrying wastewater to treatment plants, and the streets, alleys, and pavement which make up the City's traffic system.
To maintain the infrastructure, Engineering Services Division manages the design and construction of City projects. Recent projects have included the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, Artesia Boulevard and Inglewood Avenue Improvements, Redondo Beach Municipal Pier Improvements and Residential Street Rehabilitation. Yet not all construction on the public right-of-way is completed by the City. To ensure that construction by others is carried out properly and safely, Engineering Services Division also requires permits and inspections for all construction projects.
