Franklin Park

807 Inglewood Ave
Redondo Beach, CA 90278

Franklin Park features a Community Center, classrooms, a Youth Theater facility (the Redondo Playhouse), play equipment, and picnic areas.

The Franklin Community Center is a 3.2 acre former elementary school campus that includes nine individual buildings which are linked by covered walkways. A 40-stall parking lot is accessible from both Fisk Lane and Inglewood Avenue. A small play area is located at the corner of Ralston Lane and Inglewood Lane (adjacent to the kindergarten building). The site contains a total of 28,042 sq. ft. of building space which includes: 12 classrooms, library building, kindergarten, administration building, and four restroom/storage buildings. A majority of the site is leased to nonprofit agencies that provide needed childcare, education and services to the community. The City has retained use of four classrooms and the library for recreation classes and for meeting space. The cafeteria building has been converted to the Redondo Playhouse, below.

The Redondo Playhouse complex was created by renovating a former elementary school cafeteria and three classrooms in 1997 to serve the Citys community theater and drama camp programs. The Playhouse complex contains 9,678 sq. ft. of space which includes a 125-seat theater with stage, lighting, sound system, etc. (4,840 sq. ft.); three classrooms to accommodate dressing rooms, storage and workshop space (2,880 sq. ft.); and a multi-purpose room used for dance classes and rehearsals, show pre-function activities and other recreation classes (1.950 sq. ft.) The facility provides space for the seven-week Drama Camp during the summer and four other community shows for adults and children throughout the year.
