If I submit a resume, do I still need to complete the City of Redondo Beach application?
Yes. A City of Redondo Beach application is required. Resumes are only accepted when attached to a completed City application.
Is there anything else I need to submit besides the City of Redondo Beach application?
It depends on the position. Please read the job announcement carefully, as it will detail the application requirements. Depending on the position, we often require that a supplemental questionnaire be completed, a department of Motor Vehicles printout, and a Typing Certificate.

What are your days and hours of operation?

What does "Final Filing Deadline" and "No postmarks accepted" mean?
This means that your application must be received in the Human Resources Department by the deadline date and time. Applications received with postmarked deadline date will not be accepted.
What does "Lateral" position mean?
For Police Officer Lateral, applicants must either currently be employed within the previous 18 months by a California or out of state police agency.
For the Emergency Services Dispatcher Lateral, applicants must be currently employed or previously employed within the last year in a police/fire or emergency communications center. See the job announcement for details at www.redondo.org
What does it mean when my name is placed on the Civil Service eligibility list?
This means that after passing all the selection process, your name will be placed on the eligibility list for one year. The list is established using this banding system: Best Qualified (90-100%), Well Qualified (80-89%), and Qualified (70-79%). Applicants with a final score of 90-100% will be considered first for employment.
Where do I get a Typing Certificate? You can contact a local temporary agency or adult school. They will give you a typing test and issue a certificate with the words per minute you typed and the errors. We recommend you keep the original Typing Certificate and submit a copy with your application.
Will my employment application be kept on file?
We accept employment applications for open jobs only. You must submit a new application for each job you apply for.
