Sailing Program

To enrich and improve the quality of life in Redondo Beach by making sailing accessible to the public and providing quality instruction based on American Sailing Association curriculum.

How do I register for a sailing class?
We currently have a waitlist. To add to the waitlist, please call the City of Redondo Beach at (310) 697-3383. Our sailing coordinator will assist in adding you to the appropriate class waitlist. Our classes consist of 2-3 students with an instructor.

I'd like to take a sailing class, but I don't have a partner. Can the Sailing Program help find me a partner?
Yes, frequently have a list of people waiting to take a class with someone else. We can see if anyone waiting to take a lesson has similar availability to you and then set you up for lessons together.

The object of this course is to prepare you for just such an adventure. While continuing to sharpen skills already learned, you will be taught advanced techniques such as picking up a mooring, radio procedure, reefing, navigation, etc. At the completion of this course your instructor will make the determination if you are "skipper" rated (able to rent and use our boats) or "crew" rated (maybe just need a little more experience before retesting as skipper.)
